Magazine Development

These were the beginning templates for my double page spreads, Initially I was working on gathering the text and images and then placing, moving and tweaking how they were positioned, layed out and assigned to each other. as you can see some of the images didn't make the cut and things have been placed differently in the final outcome.

One of my final double page spreads that i made as an extra. On the left page I was trying to use  colours that match the image to make the article look colourful and attractive without making it to overwhelming and obscuring the clear message of the text.

Double Page-Spread - Research

This part of the research as to look at the way text, images, fonts and different layouts work together and to get knowledge of what works and what doesn't.

Every time I viewed a magazine layout I scanned it for information on how, why and when a layout was layed out in that particular fashion. Some times I'd find out that certain double page spreads were placed together purely because they were the last ones left. often enough you fund articles and adverts next to each other and at least some times you can tell that product placement has been used.

MastHead Development

Initial Masthead/logo designs and mind mapping different ideas, styles and methods of creation.

.

trying different styles to see how my logo/masthead could possibly look.

Here I was testing typefaces and fonts use for my Logo.

Whilt creating these mastheads I was also deciding on how to best display, place and size my masthead. They all seem to have a basi size but some of the more recognisable mastheads are the ones that are a bit more unusual ones, which was what I was hoping to create.

Several masthead/logos that I created to test across different platforms to decided which was to become my final chosen masthead.

This is my chosen Logo design because I feel it works best out of the lot and is easily recognisable, viewable and would work on a range of different platforms including online platforms.

My finished logo designs placed on a range of different covers to see what works bestacross all the different platforms.

Magazine Research

Before I could even begin to create and develop my magazine ideas I had to do a lot of research into current magazines in varying different genres, themes and topics to see what worked and didn't and take aspects of what was working to include in my own creation. This research was especially useful to me because not only did you get knowledge of the industry but also got to see differences in styles, genres and layouts used.

Music Magazines.
General Magazines.
Poorly presented Magazine in my opinion.
Film Magazines.
Music Magazines.
Snowboarding Magazines.

Magazine Tasks

These two tasks were initially setting at the beginning of the project so that we could get some first hand experience before we started the project officially. We had to look through some magazines and choose some pages to copy and layout as close as possible to what we could see in the magazine.
